Katie Evermann Druffel receives Social Worker of the Year Award

Katie Evermann Druffel, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Director of Social Work & Care Coordination at Pullman Regional Hospital, was recently awarded “Social Worker of the Year” by the National Association of Social Workers. Evermann Druffel was nominated by her peers and a panel of social work professionals who are members of NASW judged all the nominations.
Evermann Druffel has worked at Pullman Regional Hospital since 2006, when she started as the sole social worker. Now the Social Work & Care Coordination Team is comprised of professionals from social work, nursing, health psychology, students and volunteer chaplains.
Evermann Druffel also initiated a partnership with WSU Human Development to create a Social Work Extender program utilizing undergraduate students to continue the care process. She serves as the chair of the Ethics Committee and started the Quality of Life Team in 2008, with the goal of supporting providers, families and patients who need care at the end of life in the hospital. Additionally, Evermann Druffel serves on the Washington State Department of Health Palliative Care – Rural Health Integration Advisory Team which works to bring palliative care to rural communities.
