PRH Sponsors "Take Charge of Your Health Day"

Pullman Regional Hospital will sponsor "Take Charge of Your Health Day" on Wednesday, April 16 from 11am-2pm. The event will be held at the hospital.  In conjunction with other community organizations, "Take Charge of Your Health Day" provides residents of the Palouse with opportunities to begin considering end-of-life plans and designating family health spokespeople.

National Healthcare Decision Day is an initiative encouraging adults to express their wishes regarding healthcare and ensuring providers and facilities respect those wishes.

Katie Evermann Druffel, representing Pullman Regional Hospital'sSocial Services Department, will guide participants through health care decision-making, including health care directives, the Five Wishes living will, andPhysicians Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST).

The pharmacy at Pullman Regional Hospital will offer participants a chance to bring their current medications to review with a pharmacist.

Brady Flygare, Executive Director for Avalon Care Center, will present the noon-time lecture on Medicare Basics: Understanding the Medicare Program.

Booths from the following participating agencies will provide other valuable information to the public:

Bishop Place Senior Living, represented by Laurie Brown, will provide information regarding memory care. The organization will also offer blood pressure checks for participants between 11-12pm and 1-2pm.

Whitman Senior Living, represented by Laurie Hamilton, will offer information regarding respite and quick admission.

Gentiva Home Health, represented by Jenesa Unger, will offer fall prevention tips and general home safety information.

Gentiva Hospice, represented by Mickey Hale, will provide information on coping with bereavement and loss.

Zelda's Pet Grooming will offer information regarding cat respite and in-home dog care.

Whispering Hills Adult Family Home, represented by Lorraine Fulfs, will offer information regarding nutrition for the elderly.

In addition, Glen Haven Adult Family Homes will provide information regarding available services.

More information and assistance in enrolling in the new Health Portal for Pullman Regional Hospital will also be available.

The event is free and open to the public, no registration required.
