Pullman Regional Hospital Receives Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience for second consecutive year
Oct 15, 2015
Pullman Regional Hospital has been named a 2015 recipient of the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience for the second consecutive year. This distinction is the only award that identifies the nation’s best healthcare institutions measured against the needs and preferences of women.
According to the Center for Talent Innovation, women account for 94 percent of all healthcare decisions for the family.
“This award recognizes that women are choosing Pullman Regional Hospital and our Center for Women’s & Children’s Health for the quality patient experience they seek for themselves and their families,” said Scott Adams, CEO of Pullman Regional Hospital.
The qualification process for America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient experience is unique in that it is the only national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction and recommendation scores. The process begins with scores derived by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for each hospital in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) database. The score takes a subset of the questions HCAHPS uses that research shows are more important to women than to men. Weight is applied to each of those questions to adjust for relative importance and arrive at a numerical score.
The 100 best scores in each of the four bed size categories determine the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience award winners. The four size categories include hospitals with up to 100 beds, 101-250 beds, 251-400 beds, and 401-plus beds. All scoring is objective and uniform and the Women’s Choice Award accepts absolutely no payment in exchange for placement on the list.
