Schweitzer Family Doubles Gift for Surgery Expansion Project at Pullman Regional Hospital

Feb 15, 2016

Community leaders Ed and Beatriz Schweitzer made an additional $350,000 gift—for a total of $700,000—to help fund the expansion of surgical services and surgical technology upgrade for Pullman Regional Hospital. This announcement was made Saturday, February 6, at the 10th Annual Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Gala.

The funds support the Surgery Expansion Project which includes building a fourth operating room suite and upgrading the technology in the three current operating rooms at Pullman Regional Hospital.

“Our hospital has served our family and the entire community so well,” said Beatriz Schweitzer. "We are pleased to do our part to support this important resource.”

“I asked Scott how much he needed to build the new surgery suite, he said ‘$340,000,’” said Ed Schweitzer. “So, Beatriz and I looked at each other and decided to double our original gift.”

“Once again, Ed and Beatriz demonstrate extraordinary generosity, vision and leadership,” said Pullman Regional Hospital CEO, Scott Adams. “The Schweitzer family is helping to ensure our community has better access to the best surgical care.”

“I continue to be humbled by the generosity of Ed and Beatriz,” said Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Chief Development Officer, Rueben Mayes. “Here are two leaders who have so many opportunities to invest locally and globally. We are so grateful they choose to help meet the healthcare needs of our community and trust and support Pullman Regional Hospital.”

The project, totaling $1.75 million, is expected to be completed, new technology installed and the fourth operating room fully functional by the spring of 2017.
