Pediatric Center of Excellence to open at Pullman Regional Hospital this summer

Pullman Regional Hospital is introducing a new Pediatric Center of Excellence in collaboration with Palouse Pediatrics, Pullman Family Medicine, and Palouse Medical to centralize pediatric medical services in one hospital-based location. The Center, which is part of Pullman Regional Hospital’s Center for Women’s & Children’s Health, will start July 1.

Scott Adams, CEO of Pullman Regional Hospital, said the Center will provide enhanced services and integration of hospital care for pediatric patients at the hospital.

“The collaboration ensures that children are cared for by some of the region’s most highly trained physicians, mid-level providers and nurses providing pediatric care on a hospital inpatient, outpatient and emergency basis,” he said.

“We believe the centralization and organization of all pediatric medical care in one location on the Palouse will benefit our patients through access to a higher quality of care and improved patient satisfaction,” said Michael Frostad, M.D., with Palouse Pediatrics.

Enhanced, centralized pediatric services at Pullman Regional Hospital include:

  • Pediatric IV Team
  • Child Life Program with distraction/play therapy
  • Child-friendly inpatient space
  • Quality outcome monitoring based on industry benchmarks and healthcare standards
  • Integration of care between nursing, anesthesia, pharmacy, laboratory, respiratory therapy and other crucial hospital services.
