Pullman Regional Hospital Receives Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience for 4th consecutive year

May 9, 2017

Pullman Regional Hospital has been named a 2017 recipient of the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience for the fourth consecutive year.

The award signifies that Pullman Regional Hospital has been ranked within the top 100 hospitals of similar size based on number of beds. Pullman Regional Hospital has 25 inpatient beds.

According to the Center for Talent Innovation, women account for 94 percent of all healthcare decisions for the family.

“This award recognizes that women are choosing Pullman Regional Hospital and our Center for Women’s & Children’s Health for the quality patient experience that they seek for themselves and their families,” said Scott Adams, CEO of Pullman Regional Hospital.

The methodology used to select America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience is unique in that it evaluates specific Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System (HCAHPS) survey results along with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences. The following HCAHPS survey measures are used along with a weighted average reflecting women’s preferences:

  • Effective communication with nurses and doctors
  • Responsiveness to requests for help
  • Pain management
  • Explanation about medications before being administered
  • Bathroom and room cleanliness
  • Patient recommendation rating

Pediatric Asthma Education Expanded on Palouse

May 3, 2017

Palouse Pediatrics Physician Assistant, Jacob Blazzard has recently completed Board Certification as an Asthma Educator. Blazzard, who has worked with Palouse Pediatrics since the fall of 2014 will work to offer children with asthma the awareness and skills necessary to maximize quality of life on the Palouse.

Asthma is a chronic disease that can be managed with the help of an expert. A certified asthma educator is an expert in teaching, educating and counseling individuals with asthma and their families. It is recommended that sympomatic children be seen four times a year by an asthma educator. Jake’s appointments are 45 minutes to allow ample time to discuss these issues.

Jake focuses on:

·         Diagnosis and management of asthma

·         Development of an asthma action plan

·         Basic lung function tests (Peak Flows)

·         Services and programming for asthma

Pediatric Asthma services will be offered in both clinic locations. For an appointment in Pullman, call 509.332.2605 or in Moscow, call 208-882-2247 or visit www.palousepediatrics.org for more information.
