FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Wayne Druffel and the Druffel family have been a strong philanthropic partners, advocates and volunteers for Pullman Regional Hospital over the past decade. Wayne co-chaired The Next Era of Excellence fundraising campaign, which raised over $7.5 million for Pullman Regional Hospital, as well as over $1 million for the COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

The Druffels established The Norm & Jessie Druffel Family Endowment in 2015 which helps support the hospital’s Orthopedic Center of Excellence and the Regional High School Athletic Training Program. Wayne, his brothers, and son Kurt, own Norm Druffel & Sons, one of the largest wheat and grain producers in Whitman County. Wayne is also an accomplished bowler, being inducted into the Washington State Bowling Congress’ Hall of Fame in 2005, and owner of Zeppoz Bowling, Restaurant, Sports Bar and Casino.

 

 For 20 years, Karin served as the WSU Foundation’s Director of Foundation Relations, retiring in 2024. Karin worked in the non-profit sector most of her career including ten years at the Community Action Center in Pullman. Karin served as the WSU Organizational Director with the Foundation for two years, and upon her retirement transitioned to a traditional director role.

Karin grew up in Sweden and got her master’s degree from the University of Gothenburg. She worked as an English teacher in China and Japan in the 1980s and became a resident of Washington State in 1990. Her two sons were both born at Pullman Memorial Hospital on the Pullman campus and she is a proud Coug Mom. In her spare time, she loves to travel to foreign countries with her husband Bob.

Brandon Burch retired in 2019 after 30 years in Information Technology at the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife, Marilyn, are longtime Pullmanites. Marilyn retired in 2019 after almost 40 years as the Director of Nutritional Therapy at Pullman Regional Hospital. Brandon volunteers at the Pullman Depot Heritage Center, the WSU Lutheran Campus Ministry and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ken and his wife Dorothy have lived and worked in Pullman since 1967. Ken was a well-respected faculty member at Washington State University for decades. In addition to his faculty role, Ken wore many hats for WSU Athletics as faculty representative, PAC-10 president, and NCAA liaison.

Ken was a member of The Next Era of Excellence campaign cabinet, where he helped the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation secure large gifts as well as committed his own to the Orthopedic Center of Excellence expansion. Ken currently serves on the 5th Quarter Rally event committee to support the Regional High School Athletic Training Program.

Andrea Howell is a pharmacist and Pullman Regional Hospital Pharmacy Director, graduating from Washington State University College of Pharmacy. She moved to Pullman with her family in the 1974 when her father became the administrator of (then) Pullman Memorial Hospital. Her ties to the hospital and Pullman run deep. She graduated from Pullman High School and married a local farmer who later turned City of Pullman Fire Captain. She has 4 children and 1 grandchild.

Andrea began working for the hospital while in pharmacy school in May of 1987 and became Pharmacy Director in 2010. She has worked at Pullman Regional for 39 years. An avid volunteer for the hospital, Andrea has helped with several Galas and Golf Tournaments, as well as donating finances to support the hospital's initiatives and highest needs. The pharmacy hosts WSU pharmacy students for rotations, resulting in Andrea being named WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Preceptor of the Year for 2024-2025.

Joanne Kim was born and raised in South Korea and brings a diverse professional and community-focused background to the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Board. Before making Pullman her home, Joanne spent 16 years with AIG in Seoul, Korea where she worked as a financial consultant. Her career in financial services provided her with extensive experience in client relationships, communication, financial planning, and problem-solving.

Joanne moved to Pullman in 2019 and quickly developed a deep appreciation for the Palouse and its strong sense of community. She currently works as a real estate broker with RE/MAX Home and Land, where she helps individuals and families navigate important decisions while building lasting relationships throughout Pullman and the surrounding communities.

Community involvement is an important part of Joanne’s life. She has volunteered and served with local organizations and programs including Health Motivate’s Eat with a Doctor program, the Pullman Arts Commission, Sacred Heart Women’s Group and Pullman Kiwanis. Through these experiences, she has developed an even greater appreciation for the organizations and individuals who contribute to the health, vitality, and quality of life of the Palouse.

Joanne is honored to serve on the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Board and looks forward to supporting the Foundation’s mission, strengthening community relationships, and helping advance healthcare resources for Pullman and the greater Palouse region.

Outside of her professional and community work, Joanne enjoys cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, landscape photography, hiking, swimming, and staying active.

Marcia Saneholtz had a 28-year career as an Administrator at Washington State University, where she was a part of the Cougar Athletic Department through campus-defining and transformational periods. She was a guiding force in WSU’s transition from separate men’s and women’s athletic programs to one unified athletic department in the early 1980s. Saneholtz played a crucial role in WSU Athletics’ transition to an on-campus health care partnership with the university’s health and wellness and counseling services, as well as developed and managed WSU’s student athletic training program. Three times, she served as Interim Athletic Director at WSU and received numerous national honors for her work as an Administrator, including the NACWAA National Administrator of the Year. Marcia golfs in the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation’s Golf Classic each year with her team, Title IX. Marcia previously served on the Foundation board during the building of Pullman Regional Hospital in the early 2000s.

Courtney’s connection to Pullman Regional Hospital began in 2009, when she first started volunteering while earning her Biology and Chemistry degrees at Washington State University. After graduating, she followed her passion for medical research, working in both Nashville and Seattle before finding her way home to Pullman. Currently, Courtney works remotely for an international contract research organization, where she leads a team focused on FDA submissions related to therapeutic development. She’s dedicated not only to advancing medical science but also to serving her community.

Outside of work, Courtney and her husband Donny are dedicated parents to three young children, actively involved in their elementary school and a variety of extracurricular activities. When she has spare time, Courtney enjoys giving back through volunteer work, spending quality time with family and friends, and cheering on WSU athletics.

Dave Williams is an Electrical/System Engineer by trade. He worked in the aerospace, semiconductor, and federal government industries, and retired in 2016. His late wife, Ann, was a longtime hospital volunteer (winning the Volunteer of the Year award twice). He has since “picked up” where she left off, volunteering at Pullman Regional Hospital several times per week, as well as Circles of Caring. Dave is passionate about giving back and volunteering in the Pullman community.
