EXTERNAL JOB SHADOW (high school/college student):
An external job shadow is any person who is observing a Pullman Regional Hospital staff person or clinician at the hospital for no more than forty hours.
The job shadow applicant must make their own connection with the hospital staff or clinician, and have permission to job shadow from the department manager. He/she will then work directly with that hospital staff or clinician and will not be left alone unsupervised. The department manager or designated staff person will share the necessary forms of the hospital with the interested external job shadow participant. It is the responsibility of the department head or designated staff person to explain HIPPA and patient confidentiality to the job shadow and be certain all paperwork has been completed by the job shadow. All paperwork will be returned to the Volunteer Coordinator to be filed appropriately.
Please note that it can take a few weeks once paperwork is completed to start shadowing

The application process differs based on the total number of shadowing hours the applicant is interested in:

Less than 16 hours
-
